Pakistan’s leading national-level spelling competition 2025 referred to as the Nido Hum Spelling Whizz is a vibrant and dynamic event specifically designed for school students, in collaboration with Nido, to promote the passionate interest for language learning and education among the youth.

This nationwide competition’s target is to enhance student’s vocabulary, boost their confidence, and engage them in a healthy academic competition on a prestigious national stage. In it, participants often compete in a team of three-members within different age groups. They are tested on their knowledge of complex English words & linguistic skills. It illuminates Pakistan’s finest young talents highlighting country’s brightest young minds.


Contest Stages For Nido HUM Spelling Whizz Competition

This competition is designed in several stages in the following order:

  • It begins with Pool rounds where many participants compete in smaller groups.
  • Those who perform well get to move up to the next level of regional finals, which categorizes all the top Spellers from different areas.
  • And finally, the best of these finalists advances to the national finals stage, where the overall champions are decided.

Nido hum spelling whizz Contest’s Host Cities

This is a nationwide event, primarily focusing on Pakistan’s major metropolitan centers. It is designed for school students across the country, with regional rounds scheduled to be held in the following major cities:

  • Lahore
  • Karachi
  • Islamabad

Sequence of Nido hum spelling whizz Contest

  • Karachi went first → pool rounds (Oct 20–23), regional round (Oct 24).
  • Islamabad came next → pool round (Oct 28), regional round (Oct 29).
  • Lahore, scheduled as Last city for its pool round (Oct 31), regional round (Nov 1).

The grand finale will take place on November 3 at Alhamra Hall Lahore, featuring top teams from all regional rounds competing for the national title.

  1. Can anyone participate in the Nido Hum Whizz competition?

This competition is only for school-level students, each participating school is responsible for selecting and nominating its own participants to form a team. Teams compete within specific age categories (e.g., 6-8, 9-11, 12-14, 15-17 years). Once a team has been nominated by the school, no changes can be made to the team members. However, if a nominated participant is absent on the day of the competition for any reason, the remaining members (even if its only one person) can still compete in the contest.

  1. How much time does a team get to spell a word?

Each team is allotted a total of 40 seconds once the word is given by the Pronouncer.

  1. Can the contestant request any kind of assistance with the word he is required to spell out?

Yes surely. Within the first 20 seconds, the team can ask the Pronouncer for the word’s definition, usage in a sentence, or its part of speech.

  1. Can a speller retrace or correct a spelling?

A speller may pause and restart only after obtaining permission from the Pronouncer and can change the sequence of letters only if they have not yet finished spelling the word and time remains. However, once the word is fully spelled out, no changes are allowed in its order or choice of alphabets

  1. Is the word list the only source for words in the competition?

No. The provided word list is only for the student’s reference. Words for the competition may be selected both from within and beyond this list, and external sources are also used during the contest.
