My Karachi film festival echoes the passion, persistence, and powerful storytelling that have been the driving forces of independent cinema. Now, with the open call started on 30th December for every independent filmmaker, it aims to amplify and promote the independent filmmakers who are experienced or are still students by bringing their films closer to their audiences.
The festival will have four sections of film screenings, including:
i) Competitive section: This will be the main section of the festival, and films from around the world will be screened.
ii) Student section: Will feature films from student filmmakers from all over the world.
ii) Stories from Quetta: Will include films from the Quetta film showcase, which was held last year in Quetta with the screening of 10 selected films.
iv)Special screening section: Will feature international curated films.
My Karachi film festival is scheduled in person for two days, 31st January and 1st February, at the historic Frere Hall, Karachi. Over these two days, attendees can expect more than just film screenings. The festival is structured to facilitate conversations and connections. Moreover, This festival will hold panel talks and networking session, with the purpose of exchanging ideas and spark conversations. It’s a chance for independent or aspiring film makers to build connections with industry voices and discuss independent cinema by exploring possible growth opportunities.
To encourage collaboration and community building, this festival will hold a networking session that will connect filmmakers, producers, students, and film enthusiasts under one roof to share experiences and explore growth opportunities together. This way, this film festival isn’t limited to showcasing just films but also has the potential to become a festival of building vast relations from all around the independent film industry, because the core purpose of My Karachi Film Festival is about building relationships, not just showcasing films.
