The inaugural edition of My Karachi Film Festival (MKFF), organized by myco, is scheduled for January 31st and February 1st at Frere Hall, Karachi, Pakistan, with a screening of 34 Films. Explore the festival in detail.

As a platform that’s dedicated to empowering its user base, myco has organized My Karachi Film Festival (MKFF), which has now taken the challenge of supporting independent voices and emerging talent in storytelling. Following an engaging lineup, the festival announced its jury for its 2026 season.

The Jurors are a mix of artists with comprehensive experience in production and storytelling who join together to support emerging filmmakers and later select winners across the festival’s competitive categories.

Jury Awards Categories

The MKFF Jury will be awarding films in the following categories:

  • Best Film
  • Special Mention
  • Best Student Film
  • Special Mention – Student Film
  • Best Director
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Editing
  • Best Sound

The festival will conclude, ensuring a balanced and meaningful review of films, critically selecting the finest storytelling that reflects raw human experiences with its message.

The Jury

Juror 1: Jamshed Mahmood Raza(Jami)

Jamshed Mahmood Raza(Jami) is a reputed Pakistani filmmaker, writer, director, and the founder of Azad Film Company. He is a graduate of the Art Center College of Design, Pasadena.

He is best known for his feature film O21 (2014), which is Pakistan’s first major spy thriller, and Moor (2015), which became Pakistan’s official submission for the Academy Awards.

known for his unique and distinctive style. Jami’s storytelling reflects an engaging outlook on Pakistani society and its social realities. Through his work in films, music videos, and advertising. He has significantly helped in shaping contemporary Pakistani cinema.

Juror 2: Asghar Ali Ghanchi

Asghar Ali Ghanchi is the founder of  Cinebotic Labs.He brings with him an extensive experience of directing films and of working as a cinematographer to visual storytelling at MKFF.

Using the knowledge of computer engineering combined with filmmaking experience, Asghar has developed expertise to create visuals with AI assistance while maintaining the essence of classic storytelling.

Through his artworks,  Asghar represents a new era of filmmaking, using modern technology to maximize the creativity of cinema while fully complying with authentic human experiences and emotions.

Juror 3: Phil McKenzie

Phil McKenzie is an award-winning producer, investor, and co-founder of myco, working at the intersection of film, technology, and global audiences.

Previously, he co-founded Goldfinch, one of the UK’s leading production and finance companies, which invested over $250 million across 300+ projects, including Oscar- and BAFTA-winning films.

Phil is focused on building new pathways for filmmakers, particularly from the Global South, to reach audiences at scale by combining creative ambition with strong commercial strategy.
